The Alfred Mizzi Foundation donates a van to Foodbank Lifeline & Gasan Mamo provide free Insurance

Running a foodbank is logistically a lot more complicated than a lot of people might imagine. We don’t always have the luxury of waiting for the food to come to us – sometimes we have to go out there and collect it from various locations around the island. Which is great, but without a van it has proven very time consuming and difficult to organise.

The Alfred Mizzi Foundation, as well as being a regular donator of food to Foodbank Lifeline, have very generously donated a Renault Kangoo van! This van will greatly facilitate the delivery of food parcels to client collection hubs and will also be used to collect boxes of donated food items from those who participate in our Reverse Advent Calendar! Luckily, this donation could not have come at a better time, as we are currently experiencing a very busy period due to our annual Christmas campaign.

Don’t forget, it’s not too late to get involved in this super initiative if you, your family, school or company are interested. Click here to find out how you can make a difference this Christmas!

Thanks to The Alfred Mizzi Foundation, we will be able to tackle deliveries and pickups more efficiently, making it easier for you to donate food to designated locations around the island.

Jane Mizzi, from The Alfred Mizzi Foundation, was delighted to be able to help the Foodbank Lifeline with this important contribution. She explains: ‘By donating this vehicle, Foodbank Lifeline can further facilitate the collection and distribution of donated food, to those people in our society who face a crisis and simply cannot cope.’

Rev. Kim Hurst, our Chairperson, expressed sincere thanks to the Alf Mizzi Foundation for their help and support: ‘They already supply us with regular donations of food and have now excelled themselves by providing this wonderful van which will enable Foodbank Lifeline to pick up food from those who donate and to deliver boxes to the distribution centres that we hope to open in the new year. In the run up to Christmas this van will be central to our Reverse Advent Calendar Campaign.’

Gasan Mamo Insurance have also very kindly supported Foodbank Lifeline by donating fully comprehensive insurance for the new vehicle.

Mark Mamo, General Manager at GasanMamo Insurance explain, "Helping others is not only a good thing to do, but it also makes us happier and healthier too. We are proud to once again support the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation by assisting them with their insurance requirements for their new van. The management and employees at GasanMamo Insurance believe that giving also connects us, creates a stronger community, and helps us to build a happier society for everyone”.
