Foodbank Volunteer Thank You Event at Hilton

Courtesy of the amazing team at Hilton Malta, last Monday the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation team got together to thank all its wonderful volunteers who have helped in one way or another to fight hunger in Malta.

Hilton Malta held a very special event for all the team at Foodbank Lifeline, including members of the Board of Directors and hard-working volunteers who sort and distribute food in Valletta and the other distribution points around the island.

Foodbank Lifeline has been in operation since the Summer of 2015 and has grown from distributing 240 packs in its first year, to feeding more than 6,400 people during the first five months of 2019. This would not be possible without the generosity of the public and of course, the volunteers who go through all the food donated checking for expiry dates before preparing balanced food packs for individuals, couples and families and distribute in need.

Chairwoman Rev. Kim Hurst explained: ‘This is a wonderful, really exciting afternoon, a chance to say thank you to our volunteers and to appreciate all our hard work we’ve done but a big thank you to the Hilton for making this afternoon possible. I can only hope that one day there will be no need for a Foodbank in Malta.’

Meanwhile, Hilton Malta’s HR Director Annika Galea explained: “ Hilton Malta is proud to be focusing its CSR initiatives on raising funds for Foodbank Lifeline.  We want to be part of the honourable mission of 'helping to stop hunger in Malta.”

Foodbank Lifeline would once again like to show its appreciation to each person who has helped to stop hunger in Malta.
