MALTA'S FIRST FOODBANK
SOMEONE REFUSED TO LOOK AWAY.
Foodbank Lifeline began in 2015, when Reverend Kim Hurst saw people in Malta searching through rubbish bins for discarded food and discovered there was no foodbank on the island.
What began in the basement of St Andrew’s Scots Church in Valletta grew from around 30 families a week into a formal foundation responding to a much wider need.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Practical answers for companies considering becoming a Proud Partner.
What is The Food Lifeline Programme?
A monthly corporate support programme that helps companies provide ongoing, practical food assistance to families in Malta facing food insecurity.
Who is behind the programme?
Foodbank Lifeline Foundation, Malta’s first foodbank. We are a registered voluntary organisation (VO/1654) and foundation (LPF-303).
Who does the programme support?
Individuals and families referred by social workers at moments of genuine need, when they are facing immediate food insecurity.
How long does support last?
Foodbank Lifeline provides six weeks of food support while longer-term care or assistance is sought.
What does our monthly contribution achieve?
€1,000 a month supports 4 families. €2,500 a month supports 10 families.
Why is the start date in 2027?
Companies set their community and ESG budgets well ahead, so we are opening registrations now for support that begins in January 2027. Early registrations are recognised as Founding Partners.
Is the programme only for iGaming companies?
It was created with Malta’s gaming sector in mind, including operators, B2B suppliers, affiliates and service providers. Any company that shares the commitment is welcome.
How is the contribution paid?
Once your support level is confirmed, we set up a monthly bank transfer or standing order. We can also invoice monthly or annually if that suits your finance team.
Will we receive confirmation for our records?
Yes. We provide written acknowledgement of your contributions for your finance, CSR and ESG records.
Will the families we help be identified?
No. Our updates never identify the people we support. Their dignity and privacy come first.
Can our team get involved too?
Yes. Many companies also volunteer, run a food collection or take part in our Reverse Advent Calendar at Christmas. Mention it on the form and we will tell you more.
How do we join?
Choose a support level, complete the form, confirm the details with our team and set up the monthly contribution. That is it.
